I stand corrected.  Apparently, there 
are "were-apes" in the popular culture. They go by the technical name 
megapithicanthropes, and you can read more about them

 What does this have to do with the Great Were-Bear Explanation? Nothing.  These megapithicanthsdkfls whatever-things are not 
yeti.  Why not?  Take your pick: 
 Because that doesn't make any sense.  Because yeti does not have a tail, and these megapithies do. Satisfied?
