Not Yeti Friday - L'abominable homme fromage

I'm on some kind of French kick.

I asked my friend Nate, who knows French:

Do you know what the Abominable Cheese Man is saying? I mean, besides the obligatory "RAAAAA"?

Nate: The monster is saying "raclette" (RAAAAA-clette), which is a melted cheese dish (not as melted as fondu, like still stringy, cooked in little pans), usually served with bread, meats, and small pickles called cornichons. It also refers to some types of cheese that are in the dish.

The True Cowboy Hat

Climber: "Nothin' like a Saturday afternoon to do some Himilaya-ing... Ooof!... Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! The Abominable Snowman!"

Yeti: "Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! The Abominable Lowlandsman!"


2. El Yeti

¡Who has not heard of the Yeti, the Abominable Snowman! This animal fabuloso lives in the snowy heights of the Himilaya. In Tibet they have known of his existence for many centuries, but he who told of it to the rest of the world was the English explorer and alpinist Sir Edmund Hillary.

Whist he was a'climbing Mt. Everest, this explorer encountered some enormous footprints, "precicely those of the Yeti", so said the monks who kept the convent on this mountain, and to demonstrate that they spoke the truth they gave him the cowboy hat of the monster. Very diligent, sir Hillary took it back to England, where some experts declared, "this is a fake cowboy hat; it is made of the pelts of various animals". ¿And what explanation did the monks offer? That they had given an imitation, so that the true cowboy hat would remain well-guarded.
