2019 Annual Recap Post

2019 YETI YEAR IN REVIEW

This year saw THREE computer animated kids movies with yetis.... And as I write this, the number one kids movie stars a yeti.

Smallfoot, the first of the three was highlighted in last year's post

Kinda crazy.

The story will take place in a remote cabin in the frigid Canadian Yukon. Visitors who are brave enough will venture into the torn-apart logging camp and follow a trail of blood into a labyrinth of caves in Yeti territory.

And at Evermore Park in Utah:

The Real Ghostbusters

Quotes from here:

"One of my favourite episodes of The Real Ghostbusters is "Cold cash and hot water" and not just for Peter's dad or the great animation but also because Hob Anagarak was such a wonderfully designed monster.

This is a painted model sheet from the intro of "Slimer and The Real Ghostbusters" and even though his colour scheme and overall size are completely different...it's still ubdeniably Hob Anagarak!

Interestingly the character name on the sheet isn't Hob but "Abominable Snowman" which may well be a direct nod to Cold Cash and hot water and the legend of the Hob."

 -----------------------------------------

NEWSFLASH!
Ed Wood wrote a novel called Side-Show Siren that featured the Abominable Snowman.

 -----------------------------------------

A TV show called Minivers had a yeti costumed character:

 -----------------------------------------

Halyx was a fake Star Wars rock band in the early 1980s for Disneyland. There was a white wookiee alien band member.

 -----------------------------------------

One of my kids' favorite songs is Pancake Robot by Parry Gripp. I was pleased to see it features a random yeti cameo in the video:

O WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN

SFX company Rhythm & Hues was apparently working on a 2011-2012 movie with yetis

YETI CRAB:

Blog-favorite Lily Simonson had an exhibit at the Harvard Museum! Congrats, Lily!

Meanwhile, other artists are inspired by that most glorious of muses...
