The Sherpa used to consider climbing about the god-dwelling mountains as blasphemous, but now it's the mainstay of their economy. Traditionally, Sherpa men are named after days of the week. They have eighteen surnames. They may have a genetically greater lung capacity than other humans. Some of them hold contests for who can climb Mt. Everest faster. The name of their people is now a job description, even among themselves. I didn't make any of this up.
