the rosetta napkin

These napkins provide further clues to understanding our collective cultural conception of the Himalayan Simian.

Back at the ski lodge, yeti is injured and vulnerable, yet still manly. His sensitivity is displayed by surprising his home-making lady friend with a present on christmas eve. The gift box is just small enough to contain a diamond ring. No doubt soon she'll make him cocoa and the two will cozy up together next to the fire humming yuletide tunes.

The opening of Urban Yeti

"Throughout time and around the world the legend of the yeti creature has been with us. No matter what you choose to call it, be it Bigfoot, Sasquatch or Abominable Snowman, surely it must exist. But how has it evaded our scrutiny for so long? Is it possible that these creatures have been living among us for some time? If they live among us, is it not natural for them to want the same things we do? Do they crave the comforts of home and family? The time has come to find out. Urban Yeti, find a suitable mate. Now. Get ready to yeti!"

So, to sum up:

1. Yeti exists, lives among us, but has evaded our scrutiny.
2. Yeti therefore lives in cities.
3. By living hidden in cities, it is possible to deduce that yeti wants the same things as us.
4. By which we mean to say, yeti wants a lady.
5. Now you are yeti in a city and you have to go out and find a lady! Go! Go! We are forcing you to!
6. And by the way, yeti is the same as sasquatch.

Wow. There is so much wrong with this, I don't even know where to begin.

Messengers from Yeoclund

Yuocs are a result of the "uncertain encounters" between yaks and yeti. They reside in the land of Yuoclund, which is somewhere near Mongolia. Three of these creatures and their friendly shepherd travel throughout Europe, performing public shows and spreading important environmental messages.

Mobile phone game

"Ace Yeti Trapper" is a game for mobile phones.

It was given an 8.8 by Gamespot. The reviewer was actually inspired by the game to travel to the Himalayas to look for yeti.

Support Sabo

Now I have an artist name to go with the fine yeti drawing I blogged about before:

Brittney Sabo.

Here she posts 2 more. Keep on drawing yeti, Sabo. The world needs it.

Choco

A reader named penguin directed me to Toy2r, insinuating in not too many words ("look around it eventually you'll find a yeti.") that a yeti could be found there.

I won't go so far as to compare myself to an intrepid Himalayan explorer, who after responding to the call of adventure, bravely conquers the vast ice plains in search of the elusive mystery-ape, and then climactically engages in mortal combat with his quarry in a cave at the summit of Everest, one filled with giant spikes of crystal and the glittering horde of a thousand years of lost sherpa gold (although truth-be-told, it was really very similar), but I did look around for a few minutes and eventually find Choco.

I think Choco is what penguin was referring to. Choco was a very famous candy bar mascot chocolater with his buddy Minty, but then they got fired and have to find a job.

Looks like a yeti to me!

Thanks, penguin!

Chilla

The 2005 Xbox 360 videogame Kameo: Elements of Power features a yeti named Chilla that you can transform into strategically within the game to help you kill and climb things, but mostly kill things.

In Kameo, you play a sylphic elf-princess named Kameo who can harness the power of the elements and transform into representational warriors to fight trolls. Examples include a dragon, a plant, and an armadillo. For the element of Ice, Kameo can turn into Chilla.

Straight from the game's creators, these are Chilla's official stats. Write these down in your copybooks... now.

Likes: Building snowmen
Dislikes: Snow angels
Favorite Movie: King Kong

Chilla, the glacial yeti, is big, brawny, and earnest about walloping Trolls. With the help of the Element of Power, Kameo wears Chilla like a living fur coat. At her command, this blue yeti slings icicles, hurls foes, and swings Trolls around by their ankles.

Chilla is a frosty whirlwind of destruction up close and at range. He has one of the longest ranged and most precise attacks in the game, and with the Spike Storm upgrade he can stun
[freeze completely solid] a swarm of enemies, toss them onto his back, and hurl them over a cliff or into a hazard for tons of Brutal Bonuses. You’ll also frequently need his climbing abilities to reach various areas in the game.

~~~~~~~~~~
Two of Chilla's abilities can actually apply to all yeti. They are:
Slamhammer
The Slam Hammer can be used to dispose of an enemy Chilla is holding. If Chilla has an enemy on his back, press LT+RT to wield the enemy as a club, then press LT+RT again to slam the enemy into the ground, destroying them for a Brutal bonus.
Spirit Up
This increases Chilla’s Spirit Bar.
Now if someone would just please make an excellent action figure of Chilla.
You hear that, yeti? Chill the #@$% out.
According to the Creatures of Elandera web site:
"Yeti is pure power, no doubt about it! As a distant cousin of the Furpied family, Yeti may not have very much speed or intelligence, but with a body that large and a temper that hot, it may not need it. It has even learned the powers of the Frost Gem that allow it to use ice-cold attacks to its advantage. However, Yeti's temper can sometimes get out of control, and when this happens, watch out! When Yeti goes berserk in a fit of rage, anything in its path, even its own teammates, is used as a punching bag by this icy monster. To use Yeti to its full potential, the Kalimai must keep it calm and work on having it focus its intense energy toward the regime goal, rather than having it blindly lash out in anger."
Rock-based fur?
The wikipedia entry on the trolls of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series explains that yeti are actually snow trolls.
Long-time readers of this blog know that it is a pet theory of mine. Be advised, I may be subject to a loss of objectivity because of my "affection" towards my pet theory.
Here's the quote from wikipedia:
Discworld yeti are a kind of troll, dwelling in the high Ramtops. They are noted for having thick, white, insulating rock-based fur, and large feet, which are considered an aphrodisiac in the Agatean Empire. At least some tribes are unaware that attempting to eat humans is considered inappropriate these days. Yetis have a hunting technique of lying still in the snow until their prey was near them, then pouncing.
The most surprising thing about yeti is their ability to manipulate time. A Yeti can "save" its life up to a certain point and, at the point of death, can return to that point, with the knowledge of what was going to kill it (a clear reference to video games  Terry Pratchett is known to be a gamer). According to the History Monks, the entire species has been rendered extinct three times.
