I didn't know for sure if it was meant to be a yeti or not, but if it was connected to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there would surely be something about it online. All cyber-sleuthing efforts (i.e. googling) yielded nothing. According to the Internet of 2012, the Ninja Turtles Universe did not have a dapper green-suited, monocled white-furred ape-man character. So, if not TMNT, what was it?
In desperation, I turned to you, my dear readers, to see if any of you could recognize it. An anonymous commenter confirmed my suspicions: "100% not a ninja turtle action figure, not sure what it is but I can tell you without a doubt that its not TMNT. I'm a legit fan of the 80's toys and show and the newer figures have different articulation"
And that left the trail cold.
..........
Until TWO YEARS later (almost to the day!): I was just doing my routine googling for yetis - you know, like I do - when up popped up in ma search resizzults...
BOOM.
MYSTERY SOLVED.
MYSTERY SOLVED.
Finally, the tides of the Internet have washed up the answer onto the beach.
It is indeed from TMNT. And it is indeed a yeti. It's an action figure based on a villain from the short-lived live-action TV show "Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation" (1997-1998).
His name is Silver. And he's the last of the Yeti:
"Instead of spending his time on top of a mountain, he decided to make the most of it by going into crime. His gang of humans have the collective IQ of a peanut and they think he's the smartest boss around. Silver is always looking for a way to get more money then he already has, usually by stealing it from somewhere. He also is highly offended by monkey jokes, even though he likes to eat bananas."
ChrisPiers of the website The Robot's Pajamas chose Silver's episode (Ep. 15: "Sewer Crash") to illustrate what an abomination this particular TV series was. The author goes into hilarious detail on the awfulness of the show (definitely worth a read) and provides lots of great screenshots, for which I am grateful:
On deviantart, there's even been some fan art (!):

It is so satisfying to finally track down this particularly elusive and mysterious Yeti out in the wilds.
For the curious: I have previously blogged about other yetis in the TMNT universe before:
