Not Yeti Friday - Shisa

The Shisa is a mythological lion dog.  It's a traditional decoration of the indigenous peoples of the Ryukyu Islands. Often in pairs, they're wards, believed to protect folks from evil. One has its mouth open - either to scare away the bad, or if you prefer, to share goodness.  The other has it closed - either to ward off evil spirits, or if you prefer, keep good spirits in.
