Dear Henry, in all the many years you've run this site, what in your opinion is probably the best yeti EVER?
Well, my blue-speaking friend, my personal favorite yeti is probably the IWG Yeti vinyl figure by Rocketworld:
It is a work of art. Look at that ablobinableness. It is the quintessential modern yeti, imho.
It was/is too expensive for me to own, and it's been sold out for years. I suppose you could say it is like a real yeti: never to be seen... never to be touched... never to be hugged... does it even exist? Although you would say it like this, of course: does it even exist? - you being a person who speaks in blue, apparently.
Now there appears to be a new version of this paragon of perfection! A plush version! It will be a limited series of handmade plushes by Lana Crooks. One can literally hug it! I fear it will be too expensive for me to own, however, and will also sell out almost immediately. Ugh, here we go again. Always an admirer-of-IWG-Yeti, never an owner-of-said-IWG-Yeti.
I feel like Hugo: I want to hug it and squeeze it and I will name it George.
Recently, a teaser image was shared on supahcute, Nerd City, and probably other places. It announced that an example of this new plushified IWG yeti would be on display at the Rocketworld booth at the San Diego Comic Con.
This blurry, incomplete, overly-cropped photograph only peaked my interest more! I had to go out and find definitive proof of this elusive creature.
So I did some exploring, dear blue person, into the frozen wastes of Flickr, and found the following image (from here):
So there you go.
Thanks. That's "amazing". No other word for it.

More ILL Yeti
As previously revealed, Noël ILL is an artist who often depicts the yeti.
She has notified me that she has made more yeti dolls, and they will be for sale in an art show at Munky King in Hollywood, CA next month. They look delicious! Check out a preview:

Orphan Baby Yeti
kidmissile made this plush, a rendition of orphan baby yeti from The Kingdom of Loathing, which according to its Wikipedia entry is a "browser-based, multiplayer role-playing game... [using] hand-drawn stick figure graphics and writing characterized by surreal humor, word play, parody and references to popular culture."
Yeti is basically wed to it
I may love the yeti, but man, yeti love the popsicles - the ice creams - the sherbets of the world.
It cannot be denied: Yeti ♥ the Frozen Confections.
If you've got 17 hours of your life to fill up, take a look at all these artists that have attempted over the years to depict this unassailable truth. Posts containing these images have all been tagged such so as to most conveniently enable the depletion of your seventeen hours.
Here are a couple more to throw on the pile (but the pile is ever-growing) :
Yeti loves ice-cream too by Salvatore Rotolo
Pssssst by Eric Terry
--------
I mean this motif is just HUGE, am I right? At this point, yeti is more likely to be seen holding a cone & some scoops than the customary big ol' club. Let's face it, he would rather nosh on some portable dessert than bash you over the head - rather eat some ice cream than eat you.
The times, they are a changin'!

Collective Noun
We know that a number of dolphins is a pod, that some geese are a gaggle, and that owls make up a parliament. But what about the supernatural creatures? Do they get collective nouns? Huh?! HUH!?
For example, what, pray tell, do we call a group of yeti?
David Malki of Wondermark has done us the courtesy of providing us a list:
The Stoakes-Whibley Natural Index of Supernatural Collective Nouns
Under Wild-life at the bottom of the list, one can find the following:
So there you have it, a flurry.
P.S. For those of you who like yeti's brown American cousin, you'll be pleased to know a group of sasquatch is called a yearning.
And now you know. And you are pleased.
--------
Thanks, Lauren for the scoop!

Yeti vs. Hellcat
Who is that battling Hellcat on the cover of Patsy Walker Hellcat #4?
Why, it's Pete the Yeti, a yeti who wears plaid yellow pants.
From the Description:
Hellcat is still on the case, tracking the missing heir of an Eskimo witch coven. But hot on the trail is Pete the Yeti, whose rocket powered spruce is making her life difficult. But with the aid of a giant magical wolf named Manslayer and a giant talking Mayan calendar made of stone, she just might survive her trek through the last frontier. If she doesn't drown in a wave of snow bunnies first.Sounds like fun. Here's a review with more pictures from it. And here's a crop from that site, showing Pete in all his plaid panted glory:

Not Yeti Friday - T-Boy
Today is Casual Friday, which means we let our hair down and don't love the yeti quite so much. Maybe we have room in our hearts for something that's Not Yeti. It should still look like yeti though. I mean, we wouldn't want to go completely overboard! This isn't Armageddon or something.

Yeti Vs. Pedidextrous Ninja
Chris Miles of the Pogo Art Team Blog made a painting of a Yeti Fighting a Ninja. What more does anyone ever actually need?
Also, to wield his weapons, the ninja is forgoing the use of his hands in favor of his feet.

TMNT Yeti
In the comic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #26 entitled "The Keeper", an alien kidnaps rare creatures from Earth (including the yeti in Tibetan (?) attire) and holds them captive. Or so the Turtles think. Turns out the Keeper's actually an activist who just wants to save the creatures from those who have made the planet Earth unsafe for them - namely, all of humankind.

1960's Yeti Endorses Corn Flakes
This for me is the find of the month!
A 1960's commercial for Kellogg's Corn Flakes Cereal featuring the "Adominal [sic] Snowman".
It even has lederhosen!
And there's the now familiar Bumblesque trope of 'Scary Wild Monster is Actually Tame, Kind-Hearted Friend'. Though there's a bit of a twist: Friend charges you for the cost of your own cereal.

Taru Yeti, continued
Last year I posted about Taru Yeti!
Now Taru is back with more art featuring his yeti character.
(For more on Taru, see: site|flickr|etsy)
Here's a cast of his characters. Note the yeti has both an ice cream cone and a cat on its head. Significant.
This piece is entitled coccinelle, which I believe is what the French speakers call what the English speakers call the Volkswagon Bug.
In hightea, Taru makes his yeti a little less abstract and stylized, less geometric. Note also the use of the tea trope.
Keep it up, Taru!

Kobaidze Yeti
Roman Kobaidze of IGRIKA Animation Film Studio was commissioned (hence the watermark) by a hotel located on the mountain Kazbegi in Georgia to create this sign urging travelers not to litter.
See more on blog.
See more on deviantArt.
Depictions of female yeti are rare. This also depicts a yeti with a baseball bat and a yeti with a hat. This is the first anti-litter endorsement I've personally seen using yeti.

Half Yeti Friday - Yetifish
As it is my 5th wedding anniversary, in honor of my better half, I have deemed this Friday as the first ever Half Yeti Friday!
Here's a half yeti, half fish, the Yetifish!
It is a creation of Nick Rogers.
One of my favorite things about the Yetifish:
"Yetifish can also roll up into balls and roll into their opponents."

All Hail the Yeti Crab
I'm from Austin Texas, so I see the Seal of the State of Texas quite a bit. We Texans like to show off our Seal. One day I was looking at the Seal, and I thought, "That needs a yeti crab."
So there you go.
I would like to point your attention to The Crab at the Shore of the Known Universe, a blog-post by the Quantum Biologist. He discusses how the yeti crab derives its energy not from the Sun, but from the Earth itself. And that this could be evidence for the success of life in alternate universes!!!
i love you, Yeti Crab.

A snippet from the description of Adam (skywarp-2)'s supervillain creation Doctor Yeti:
"...During the night, a Lone Yeti, and leader of the pack attacked the makeshift Nazi base..in that small battle, Glavenstein was mortally injured.. working against time, Glavenstein instructed the Nazi assistants to remove his brain and connect it to a harness built into the skull of the Leader of the Yeti..."

The Mythical 9th Division by Alex Milway is about a secret team of yeti saving the world.
I previously blogged about it before, but now the book is out in the UK.
