From the comic Doom Patrol, # 121 (December 1967)
Several surprises here...
First of all, it's 1967 and the yeti has horns. This may be the first known recorded instance of a yeti depicted with horns.
And this may also be the first recorded instance of someone making the "Abdominal Snowman" joke.
Third of all, the yeti says "ARQQRRGH!"
Yep, with 2 Q's.
Then he says "UNGAAAAAAAA!"
And finally and most importantly, the yeti attack is interrupted by Beast Boy who gives him a pin depicting Mad Magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman. He convinces the yeti that this is a mirror and he's looking at himself.
The yeti thinks he looks like Alfred E. Neuman.
WHA?
Now I've Seen Everything: Doom Patrol vs. Yeti. and all that entails.
Note to self: Add "ARQQRRGH!", "UNGAAAAAAAA!", and "UNGA-UNGA-UNGA-UNGA!" to Everything Yeti Has Ever Said page, and then let's just close that thing down. We're done.

Throwback: Seven Faces of Dr. Lao
Speaking of seven years of this blog, how 'bout this oldie but goodie?
One of the titular 7 faces of this 1964 film was the Abominable Snowman, and since Halloween is just around the corner, I thought it appropriate to throw back to the strange (yet still heroic) effort of the good doctor to don the white fur suit for deceptive purposes. Hear! Hear!
Here are a few images:

We Have Another Winner!

Grace Alvord sent me the link to her exceedingly excellent 2008 Halloween costume. You can see more pictures of it on her flickr page!
Please take note that she has provided the following caption for one of the images: "Snaauurr".
Long-time readers of this blog may know the snnaaaaurrgnificance of this.

I made a comic
I am trying out Bitstrips, where you can make your own characters and comic strips. They provide all the tools to do so. You don't do any drawing.
This is the closest I could get to a yeti. It wasn't easy.
Stay tuned for more bitstrips starring The Yeti. Maybe.

The Great Ten's Yeti
I found this "micro-hero" from here, where yeti appears to be the member of a superhero team called China's Great Ten. What comic book is that from?
Turns out it's from DC's 52.
The Great Ten is what a superhero team might be like if sponsored by the government of the People's Republic of China. A roll call reveals some fantastic names, many as if they were literally translated from the Chinese: Accomplished Perfect Physician, August General in Iron, Socialist Red Guardsman, Mother of Champions, Ghost Fox Killer, Celestial Archer, Immortal Man in Darkness, Seven Deadly Brothers, Thundermind, and Shaolin Robot.
The Yeti is a reserve member of the team. A genetic scientist named Hu Wei unlocked a gene that can turn people into monsters. After self-experimenting, he can now "hulk" out as a yeti. Unfortunately, he's filled with rage when he yetis out and has to wear a kind of electro-amulet to keep from killing everybody. Sadly, Hu Wei was killed by supervillain Black Adam in issue # 50.

It's not a huge loss for the Great Ten, IMHO, since at least once before, Hu Wei discarded the amulet for some crazy reason and went on a rampage, killing 30 people. The Accomplished Perfect Physician had to go stop him and make him put his amulet back on. He was something of a liability, I figure.
Just wear the amulet, yeti! Is it that hard?
For the curious, here's a gallery of some of the characters from Great Ten, but not yeti.
Looking back on this blog, I now realize that:

Just rrarrring to go

Drizzt Do'Urden is a dark elf. One day, during his comic book adventures, he battles a couple of yeti. They almost get the best of him. But he is rescued by somebody to advance the plot.
Note that the yeti say "RRAR" and sometimes "RRARRR".
Maybe in the Forgotten Realms, they don't say "SNNAAAURR" as they do in our world.
