Toyota & Yeti

In 2004, Toyota Motor Corporation hired FCB JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA to do the following print ad:

Interpretation: The yeti, who of all creatures in a snow storm would be the most comfortable, would still prefer a hitch-hiked ride in your Toyota.

Either that, or yeti is giving you and your Toyota a thumbs-up for "job well done".

But Toyota was not done with yeti!

On a number of occasions, a hired person has been disguised as the Abo'man to endorse their product at action sports events:

(Trend Watch: I've been seeing more and more depictions lately of yeti wearing ski goggles...)

So why does Toyota employ the yeti?

I think it's because they smartly recognize that yeti is currently popular with youth and also emblematic of winter action sports (snowboarding/skiing).

So using him as a mascot to endorse their motor vehicles helps target the right demographic.

Not Yeti Friday - Super Armored Fighting Suit "Snowman"

Super Armored Fighting Suit "Snowman"

I know, I know, the wrong kind of snowman.

I still thought it worthy of your attention.

I mean: ROBOT SUIT.

Something magic happens when those two words get together.

The Thing vs. Yeti

Jeff of The Yeti Speaks! writes:
I thought I'd pass these scans along as you might like to see 'em. They're from a Taco Bell comic book giveaway - I think it might still be going on, though I'm not sure. At the end of this Fantastic Four promo issue there's a one page story that I've attached. Part of that story has the FF's Thing fighting a yeti in Tibet. I thought it was pretty cool and I wanted to share. Keep up the good work with the site!

Thanks, Jeff! It's nice to see the Thing finally battling the yeti. An obvious pair-up if ever there was one.

Cambras Yeti

Yeti plush and cards by Cheryl Cambras

Just a Christmas Thing?

For the Halloween Carnival at Mirabelli Community Center, they had an Abominable Snowman Coin Toss. It was, by all accounts, a great success.

Wait, you ask, isn't yeti more of a Christmas thing? What does he have to do with Halloween?

EXCELLENT QUESTION.

This is just a random reminder that the yeti is so popular that it has been integrated into the Halloween monster family.
