Happy Yetitine's Day!

Yeti vs. Nazis

The only depiction I've ever seen of the Nazis battling yeti. Seems like an obvious match-up.**

Kudos to artist Michael Bennett for taking the plunge.

** The concept's not so totally out there. Hitler apparently sent some of his goons (led by an ornithologist!) to hunt for the Abominable Snowman and prove that he was a "missing link" to support his Aryan superiority delusion. To read more about this, check out this Cryptomundo post.

McGee Yeti

American McGee makes video games. Right now he's working on one based on the Grimm fairy tales called "Grimm".

It looks pretty neat. There are two worlds in the game you can travel between: one that is bright, cute, soft and friendly, and another that is a mirror version of the first - where each house, person, animal, tree, etc. from the first becomes dark, evil, and harsh (though still cute, imho).

There's even a yeti in the game! Here are the two versions:

American McGee is an excellent game designer, and I'll tell you why. He is following the cardinal rule: Every game should have a yeti in it.

DISCLAIMER: My viewpoint is biased. I believe yeti should be involved in all aspects of every single thing.

You can see more of the good world/bad world designs from the game on McGee's blog, like this puppy/hell hound.

We really shook the pillars of heaven, didn't we, Wang?

The cult classic movie Big Trouble in Little China has a yeti of sorts in the cast. It is known colloquially as "Chinese Wild Man" in the film, but hairy hominid enthusiasts know its other name: "yeren".

The folks at eightball studios made a nice action figure of it.

To learn more about this guy and his role in this fine film, here is a good article about it.

Kroese Yeti

Noah Kroese is currently working on a children's book called "Freddy the Spaghetti Yeti".

In his own words:

"It is about a Yeti who buys a spaghetti-making machine that goes crazy and fills his house with pasta."

To see more pictures from the book, visit his home page and click YETI.

Good luck with the project, Noah.

It's... Yuki Otoko!!!!

MacDonald Deck

Scott K. MacDonald made this skateboard deck for charity.

There's more sketches of it here.

Scott urges: "Yetis of the World UNITE!"
