Not Yeti Friday - The Giants of A Song of Ice and Fire's (aka Game of Thrones books)

In the blew-my-freakin-mind department is the news that the "giants" of the George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones world (the books, not the TV show) are actually yetis.  Classic yetis with clubs. I mean technically NOT yetis as they are called "giants", but basically giant yetis.  YES.  I had no idea.  I guess I should read more.

I don't know why the TV creators chose to make the giants look human on TV, not yeti.  Anyone know?
